The Swann Morton Sterile Disposable Scalpel with No. 24 blade is slightly larger than the No.23 blade, and is more semi-circular in shape, sharpened along its leading edge. Typically used for making long incisions in general surgery and also in autopsy procedures.
These single-use scalpels are supplied as a complete unit with blade and handle pre-assembled, each individually wrapped to maintain sterility.
By using a disposable scalpel, you limit the risk of accidental injury during removal and fitting of replacement blades. As these scalpels are designed for one time use only, the sterility of a newly opened scalpel is guaranteed, unlike in the case of re-usable handles.
