Monocryl™ Plus Antibacterial Sutures offer a reliable and effective solution for soft tissue closure, especially in procedures where short- to medium-term wound support is appropriate. Made from Poliglecaprone 25, a monofilament absorbable material, these sutures are designed to minimise tissue drag and reduce the risk of infection. The addition of IRGACARE® MP (Triclosan) delivers antimicrobial protection against a wide range of common surgical site pathogens, including MRSA and E. coli.

• Absorbable performance – Provides wound support for up to 2 weeks, with complete absorption by hydrolysis within 91 to 119 days, reducing the need for suture removal.
• Reliable wound support – Offers approximately 50% of its original tensile strength at 1 week and 20% at 2 weeks, suitable for general soft tissue approximation and ligation.
• Minimised tissue reaction – Designed to produce a slight inflammatory response, making it suitable for delicate procedures requiring low reactivity.
• FS–2 taper point needles – 19 mm length with a 3/8 circle curvature for smooth, atraumatic penetration in soft tissue applications.

Clinical Considerations

Monocryl™ Plus is not suitable for use in cardiovascular, neurological, microsurgical, or ophthalmic procedures. It should not be used where extended tissue approximation under stress is required, and the undyed variant is not recommended for fascial closures. Avoid use in patients with known allergies to Triclosan.
