Coated Vicryl™ 3-0 sutures with X–1 conventional cutting needles offer reliable performance for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic surgery and microsurgical procedures involving vessels less than 2 mm in diameter. Each suture is undyed, 45 cm in length, and made from Polyglactin 910 – a braided, absorbable material known for its strength and predictable absorption profile.
The X–1 needle is 22 mm long with a 1/2 circle curvature, allowing for controlled placement and clean tissue penetration. A 50:50 coating of Polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate enhances smooth passage through tissue while minimising drag. These sutures retain approximately 75% of their tensile strength at two weeks, 50% at three weeks, and 25% at four weeks, with full absorption occurring between 56 and 70 days (average 63 days).
Supplied sterile in a box of 12, this versatile solution is ideal for a range of surgical settings, excluding cardiovascular applications.
