BD Eclipse Safety Needles come complete with a safety cover to help protect against accidental needlestick injuries after use.

This product is bevel oriented, meaning it can accommodate low angle injections. It also has a wide textured finger pad, helping to create a safe activation for a forefinger or thumb.

It can be used for both skin injection and blood collection, as it’s all incorporated into one technology.

Eclipse safety needles require little alteration in injection technique.

Attachment

Luer slip - Fasten needle to syringe by pushing together firmly until an audible click is heard

Luer lok – Push together firmly and twist clockwise

Preparation

Pull back safety cover towards the syringe and away from the needle until it is held in place

Remove needle shield being careful not to damage the needlepoint

Draw up medication as you usually would

Administration

Administer as per your usual protocol

Disposal

Immediately after injection, activate the safety cover by positioning your thumb on the textured figure pad area of the safety cover

Push the cover forward towards the needle until you hear an audible click

Visually confirm the needle is covered

Discard in the nearest sharps bin
