What is the difference between latex and nitrile gloves?
Nitrile gloves are made from synthetic rubber, so are less likely to cause an allergic reaction compared to latex. You can still have reactions to the chemical accelerators used in the manufacturing process, which is why we have nitrile accelerator free gloves available too. Nitrile gloves aren’t as flexible, but they’re more durable and resistant to oils and chemicals.
What is the difference between medical and food grade nitrile gloves?
The difference between medical and food grade gloves is the AQL level. Food/industrial grade gloves have a lower AQL (acceptable quality level) than medical gloves. A medical grade glove is AQL 1.5 and an industrial/food grade is AQL 4.0.
Also, medical grade gloves need to be thinner than industrial grade as the user will require a higher level of dexterity from the glove during medical procedures.
