What size needle is used for insulin?
The standard size for insulin needles is 1/2 of an inch long. There are also options that hold 0.3ml, 0.5ml and 1ml of liquid.
Does insulin needle size matter?
A thinner needle is more comfortable for some patients. When administering insulin, you only need to penetrate beneath the surface and don’t need to reach the muscle. A shorter needle for insulin ensures you don’t penetrate the muscle unnecessarily.
