The Swann Morton Sterile Disposable Scalpel with No. 22 blade features a curved cutting edge and a flat, unsharpened back edge. Typically used for skin incisions in both cardiac and thoracic surgery and to cut the bronchus in lung resection surgery.
These single-use scalpels are supplied as a complete unit with blade and handle pre-assembled, each individually wrapped to maintain sterility.
By using a disposable scalpel, you limit the risk of accidental injury during removal and fitting of replacement blades. As these scalpels are designed for one time use only, the sterility of a newly opened scalpel is guaranteed, unlike in the case of re-usable handles.
